STEPHEN
PROSENYAK emigrated to Canada as a youngster
in 1934 and lived in Temiskaming, a town at
the head of the Ottawa river. The Pristine
Lakes and bountiful snow would influence his
later painting. Following university
studies, he moved with his wife in 1950 to
Quebec City. It was later that he took up
oil painting influenced by the artist
community of Baie St. Paul, an area known as
Painters' Paradise frequented by beginner
and accomplished painters - the Group of
Seven as the best known. His teacher was the
late Maurice Lebon, a painter in love with
nature.
Moving to Toronto in 1980, Stephen joined
the Willowdale group of artists and has been
a frequent exhibitor.
He is among the original members of HuVAC
and an active exhibitor - including Budapest
in 2001 during the millennium celebrations
and 2006 during the celebrations
commemorating the Hungarian Revolution.
Stephen paints his winter scenes, old
buildings, maple sugar shacks and landscapes
for the love of painting.
