LANTOS, MARIANNE

She was born in 1941 in Budapest, Hungary. Surviving the Holocaust, the communist regime and the loss of her mother at age eleven, has had a profound effect on her life.

Her pursuance of art has been sporadic in the decades following a commercial high school diploma. She began working at age 16 and major life events demanded attention, including raising a family.

Artistic interests include photography, painting and sculpture. She has taken part time courses at various venues in Toronto and obtained a certificate as a Visual Art Instructor from George Brown College. She took part in a juried exhibition of her photographs in “One of a kind Show” and with fellow Hungarian artists at Art Square Gallery.

Several of her works are in private collections and in her own “stairway gallery”.

She is grateful to Jane Mahut, Attila Keszei, Cara Popescu and other teachers and artists for their help and encouragement through the years.

Budapesten született 1941-ben. Mély hatással volt életére, hogy tizenegy éves korában túlélte a holokausztot és édesanyja elvesztését. Csak időközönként volt alkalma szépművészeti téren haladni. Két éves kereskedelmi iskola után, dolgozni ment. Főbb élet események és családja nevelése elvonták figyelmét a művészi törekvésektől.

Esti továbbképzésen vett részt: fényképészetet, szobrászatot, kerámiát, festészetet tanult. A George Brown Főiskolából képzőművészeti oktató diplomát szerzett. Részt vett a “One of a Kind” zsűrizett kiállitáson és több csoportos kiállitáson a HuVAC tagjaival.

Számos alkotása magángyűjtemények része, valamint a saját “Lépcsőház Galériában” található.
